How Shield works
How Shield works
Three moves: create an account, paste the tracking code, connect Google Ads. Clicks are scored; risky IPs can enter the exclusion queue.
1. Account and domain
Sign up, open the panel, add the domain you want to protect. Each site gets its own tracking key.
2. Tracking code
Paste the snippet in your pages’ <head>. When a Google Ads click lands, Shield records IP, device, behaviour and referrer signals.
3. Google Ads sync
With OAuth, high-risk IPs can be written to exclusion lists. The code alone still scores sessions; writing to Ads needs the link.
4. Rules and review
VPN, geo and repeat-click thresholds stay yours. Open a session in the panel to cut false positives.
FAQ
How long does setup take?
Account plus code is usually minutes. Google Ads connect depends on the consent screen.
Will it block real customers?
Thresholds are adjustable. Allowlists, country filters and score cut-offs reduce false positives. Shield does not run bids or campaigns for you.
Does it replace Google refunds?
No. Google credits what it classifies as invalid. Shield is an extra scoring and IP layer; CSV/evidence can support a review.
